Near as I can tell, the sales tax in Erie county is 8.75% (4% state, 4.75% 
county). Mention is made that Buffalo pre-empts the county sales tax but 
not if the rate is different. Undoubtedly a local would know.

In central Florida it ranges from 6 to 6.5% but then we soak the tourists 
with luxury, lodging, and entertainment taxes but have no state income tax. 
I generally figure that s&h on the Internet is about the same as sales tax 
but prefer to buy things, particularly used or NOS, that I can hold in my hand.

So the tax is high but by about 3%, I doubt that many would be concerned.
