<VV> LM backup lights

Hi Everyone

On our 66 the backup lights stay on sometimes even after taking the car out
of reverse and shifting into first. Could the backup switch be sticking in
the on position ?  Has anyone had this problem in the past and can tell me
where to start the trouble shooting.
