<VV> Strange power loss problem

I am having a problem diagnosing a strange problem on
my 1964 110 4-speed car. On acceleration, normal or
hard, the car will intermittently stumble as if it has
run out of gas. In some cases the car will completely
die. This first started late this summer and it is
becoming more of a normal occurrence where I cannot
drive the car for any length of time. When the car
acts up it takes a long time to start and appears as
if there is no fuel. When I check the carbs I can see
fuel going into the engine so I do not think it is an
accelerator pump issue. However I was determined that
is was fuel related. I replaced the fuel pump and all
filters but the problem is still occurring.

I do have a pertronix module in the ignition and after
trying to drive the car this weekend I noticed that
the car would explode in the muffler when I tried to
keep the car running. So I started to think maybe the
pertronix module and/or ignition system is suspect. I
am in the process of replacing the module with the old
stand by points and condenser. The wires, cap, rotor,
plugs, coil and timing all appear to be good but I
ordered new just to be safe.

I have two questions:

1.	Having never experienced a failing pertronix module
does this sound like a possibility?
2.	Is it possible there is a block in the fuel tank
that is causing an intermittent failure of fuel
delivery?

Thanks

Keith
