<VV> 140 Engine studders when secondary carbs begin to kick in?

I have a 140 engine and notice that when I slowly accelerate and engage
the secondary carbs the engine stumbles a bit before kicking into the
next level.  When I punch it, it feels like there is a minor boost then
the secondary more powerful boost.

 

How do I get it so they kick in immediately without any hesitation?
