The seal on my oil pump is leaking. In order to replace the seal and stop
the leak I must remove the rear skid plate. Can I lower the engine without
removing it completely? Can anyone describe the technique for this
service? Thanks
Hi Bruce,
I believe that you will have to remove the skid plate and to do this you
will have to lower the back of the engine and remove the harmonic damper.
But that is not all.......
If you are saying that it is your oil pump cover plate gasket that is
leaking, then there is something that you must know. There are different thickness
gaskets that must be selected correctly so as to set the pump end-clearance.
So proceed appropriately. These gaskets are available from major vendors.
