ah yes i think i remember seeing colored laquer on the lead plugs to seal 
them. i always soak my carbs in carb cleaner and rinse in recycled lacquer 
thinner.  ..jeepers i have been doing this for years to literly hundreds of 
carbs...hmm something else to do now. i have been a carb rebuilder for my old garage 
since i was a kid , specializing in rochester , but many others also.it used to 
be fun troubleshooting other shops work.see ya
