i have 2 similiar engines , one does the long crank, the other hardly turns
over even after setting for long periods of time.. smacks of the old quadrajet
bowl drain syndrome. i tried looking at carb while pumping after setting, one
does squirt better . so next step is to remove carb top and look at fuel
level after setting i guess. trying to think if there any bowl plugs that could
develop a leak like the quads did(fix was a sponge and epoxy under the lead
plugs that leaked) or just too low a float ajustment (i really doubt it). i
have a small fuel pressure gauge on a line that replaces the left fuel line for
testing that shows me good pressure while running. so i did not check the
pushrod length. maybe a valve in the fuel pump is leaking down , but where does
the gas go from the bowl of the carb?
just thinking out loud ..
