<VV> Long crank times after "rest"

James,
First, try replacing the rubber fuel hose leading into the engine compartment. If that hose is just a little cracked, it can suck air as it slowly deteriorates. This leads to increased cranking time to get sufficient fuel to prime the fuel pump and fill the float bowls. You did an excellent job of identifying a lack of fuel as the source of your extended cranking times. You could also have a plugged float sock in the gas tank, a partly plugged fuel line or even a non-vented gas cap that is providing a restriction. Most likely a few dollars of rubber fuel line will fix your problem. Let us know if that solves it.
