just to drag it on too long , i have had both bronze and steel pilot bushings 
under the same part number from balkamp over the years,. they were both not 
forgiving if crushed or abused, crumbeled instead of bending. if you make a cut 
in a bushing to get it out (i make 2 cuts with an air hacksaw) then they seem 
to fall apart in rough bits and such. so they are some sort of pressed 
material to hold lube in them. i used to keep them in stock in a jar of oil ready to 
install.
