Would rod bearing inserts,even from another engine,allow themselves to be "recurved",without losing the facing?Even without the surface,I'd say just the shell with a mirror finish would be a better surface than the aluminum block,especially since the cam turns half-speed...rather than pinning them to the block,just cut a notch for the tangs...btw,I do have a block that was cold tanked,and where the varnish spots were on both the main and cam bearing surfaces became eroded rendering the block junk...Tom Z/acorns
