<VV> I need some paint tips.

All I'm planning on doing at this point is fixing a
couple of rust spots, and painting over the existing
paint job...cause I'm gonna have it professionally
done later and I'm gonna let THEM strip the car.

So what I need to know is this.

-What grit should I use on the surface to prep before
paint?

-Should I use any kind of primer?

-Am I going to need any kind of thinner/reducer...or
can I just buy a gallon of flat black and spray it? 
I'm pretty sure I can't, thats why I'm asking.


I think thats about it.  What I am planning on doing
is framing and pinstriping in neon blue, then painting
the body flat black.  I'm also going to paint the rims
neon blue, so the edges of the hubcaps, and the holes
in them show the blue.
