These are sometimes referred to as tensile-lock bolts. They need no flat
washers
or lock washers and have serrations built into them to keep them from
loosening.

Might I also suggest that you be sure to only use pan bolts that are long
enough to contact the entire hole thread length. Using short bolts will hasten
the stripping of the aluminum threads.
