The thermostat is junk. The blower motor - are you sure it is the motor and
not merely the center of the metal fan? There WERE plastic (quiet)
replacement fans available for a while, but I've not seen them in some time.

.. is there any reason to save an old, failed thermostat or a noisy heater
blower motor? They're in my metal scrap for recycling box now and I can't
think of any reason to keep them but I always get nervous throwing Corvair
stuff away for some reason.
