<VV> Tach out of whack and car runs like cr*p

I had a customer bring a 140 in with the same symptoms.  In his case, the Pertronix was correctly installed (12v direct) but the Pertronix was defective.  I swapped in a points plate with a set of regular points and both the engine and the tach came back to normal.  I sent him off to obtain a new Pertronix unit but haven't seen him since.
