Roger,
Unfortunately, there are a few knuckleheads on the list who apparently assume that everyone who asks a question or two has been lurking in the background for 2 years and knows all there is to know about the cars and can therefore be the victim of some over-the-top ribbing about minor mistakes when working on or driving their vair.
Frankly, I was taken aback by a couple of the public responses you got. If there were worse ones sent privately, then I can see that you definitely got poisoned on the group. That is truly a shame. I have been reading and occasionally participating in VV for a couple of years and had Corvairs off and on since high school (in the 70's).
While the VV experience was understandably not great for you, I hope youll stick with the car for a while. They can be great fun to drive and the vast majority of us in the community are really pretty nice folks.
Best Regards,

I want to say thanks to some of you here who have been nice and helpful; however, because of soem fo the hateful things that have been said to me public and almost unspeakable things sent ot me in private emails, I have lost the excitement of being a Corvair owner. I was really hopeful to be part of a car community and enjoy shows, etc.; however, as I said, after what I have witnessed in my short time here I have lost that hope. I had my CORSA membership application ready to mail but have decided to spend that money on something more enjoyable.
So for those who are the stand up type of car guys - thanks. To the others - get a life -if you want to keep your hobby close knit with no newcomers allowed you are doing a great job.
Roger
