Hi,
I have book called "Chevrolet Police Cars" written by Edwin J. Sanow. In his book, Sanow briefly mentions that the Corvair was available with a police package. Unfortunately, Sanow does not really describe the changes or components that comprised the police package. He has a brief quotation taken from the GM literature about the advantages of using the Corvair as a police car and then goes on to describe the Corvair. He writes that the police package was available in 1961 and 1962. Much of his information is not well researched and he has several small technical errors. He ends the article by writing that related to late 1960s autocross "The four-barrel carbureted, 140 hp Corvairs routinely humiliated these much more powerful pony cars by taking class wins at the regional and national level. But they never caught on as police cars." He has a poor "picture" that appears to be a scan of an illustration taken from 1962 literature that shows a 62 sedan with a light and some police logos on the door.
