<VV> EM trunk lid

You may need to adjust your latch a little and over time re-tighten it
as the new seals compress or just use a little leverage from now until
they break in.

The previous owner may have shortened the latch to get a good seal on
the front lip with the original squashed seal.

I put new seals on me EM and for about the 1st 100 open/closes I had to
lean my body weight on the hood to get it to close.

After a while the seals mellowed and compressed to their current state
and they close more normal but still with a little required force.

I figure the original seal had about 35 years of compression and mine
with break in over time as well.

Subject: <VV> EM trunk lid

Several weeks ago I removed the lid on a 63 convertible to install new
weatherstripping. I was real careful about marking the hinge location
etc. Finally
got around to installing the lid and only one latch will hold. No
matter how I
press on the front of the lid the second latch will not catch. I know
the new
WS is real tight and the old stuff was falling off. Is there now an
adjustment that has to be made somewhere, or did the latch suddenly go
south? Key still
opens the trunk.
