Bill,I believe that wire is the alternator/battery hot...while it will give you 12v ,it's always "on",not switched or fused...the 'ign hot' to the coil should be 18ga,and it sounds like yours has the resistor wire run from the main harness plug ,from the "ign' terminal on the key switch,to the coil,with the '12v start' yellow from the starter solenoid in the harness ,in parallel,different from 65/66's where the resistor wire is connected at the starter 2-wire plug tothe yellow coil feed...Tom..//
