Sorry Jim, but I don't understand the question. Are you talking about  
jacking the car or the engine?
 
My suggestion is to put the rear of the car on jackstands (two) elevating  it 
about 8-12 inches. Then put a jack under the rear of the engine using a wood  
board to spread the load, and slowly let the engine down to separate the 
engine  from the rear mount.
