I don't know how many of you listen to talk radio, but this evening when I
went to pick up the kids from the athletic bus after football and
cross-country practice, I turned on The Hugh Hewitt Show. I missed most of
the segment but at the end he was giving a guest a hard time about having a
mid-life crisis and getting Corvair, well the guy replied it wasn't a
Corvair but a 60 Corvette. Then someone said Corvairs were the cars Ralph
Nader got recalled. As soon as I got home I shot off the below email to him
and about 10 minutes later he read it on the air.
Dennis
Hugh, as vice president of the Corvair Preservation Foundation and a member
of the Board of Directors of the Corvair Society of America, I can assure
you Ralph Nader did not get the Corvair recalled. I was sitting in my 66
Monza Sports sedan waiting for my kids to get done with football practice
when I heard that statement. Because of Ralphie and the first chapter of
his book, the NTSB actually tested the Corvair and declared it safe.
Any time you want to do a segment on Corvairs, the CPF or CORSA can provide
you with someone very knowledgeable to talk with.
