Suspect the real reason is that opening a normal door when moving is 
difficult and self closing. Once the wind hits a rear hinged door it is 
self-opening and self-inflicting massive body damage.

I would really like to know how they justified that scene in "Twister" 
where they opened both doors while driving through a cornfield. No Way.
