There weren't any from the factory - first GM units were in the 1967 model
year though I keep hearing rumors of some 66s. 8-track also wasn't around
for the EMs though I think the Muntz 4-track units were around in the EM
period ( http://www.8trackheaven.com/muntz.html ). People in the dark ages
(before LM) mostly had to settle for AM radio (not that many FM *stations*
around that played anything but classical) or in-car 45 players that did
not work very well when moving.
Wasn't until Bill Lear (Learjet, Learium) took an interest that the 8-track
was created and he sold the industry that went with it (why buy a player if
there are no tapes. Why create tapes if no-one has a player...).
Aside - when you look at the great names in industry, most were promoters
with a technical staff.
Now an AM/FM stereo/CD player fits nicely in the glove box if you want to
keep the traditional look.
