YES it's 1.8 ohm resistance wire built into the wiring harness in all  
Corvairs, exc 1962-63 Spyders
 
 

I can  find no evidence of it in the shop manual. 
 
Probably is hidden somewhere

If not,  is the coil a  
higher resistance like the VW?
 
Coil should be 1.35 ohms primary res.
