<VV> Which Head Light Switch for a Late Model

My 67's headlight switch is on its last legs. Before I simply change it out  
with the same design, if I used one from a newer year, would the result be I'd 
 gain the benefit of, besides having headlamps, also parking lamps at the 
same  time? Was it in 68 the feds mandated the change, and will simply going to 
the  later switch do the trick?
