<VV> gas peddle

I have a 1965 greenbrier.  When I push the gas peddle to the floor it 
sticks and wont spring back up.  I need to pull it back up from 
underneath.  Something is binding it, I can here it click when I pull it 
back up.  if I  push it down part way it does spring back up.  I've sprayed 
some WD-40  inside and outside but that didn't help.  Any suggestion?   By 
the way, I live in NJ near atlantic city if anyone in the surrounding 75 
miles can take a look at it.
