Might be the PG in my 66 but I could not even see the connection from the 
bottom. By putting the car up on jackstands, removing the driver's side 
rear tire, and wrapping myself around the brake & shock, I could just reach 
the connection with several fingers on a 1/4" drive (32-33 sleeve). Be 
aware that there is a spline on the heater duct that keeps the hose from 
sliding on more than about an inch.

My preferred lubricant for hoses and such is liquid dish soap because it is 
very slippery wet but not so when dries.
