"The factory did it "cold" - which just means the engine is not
running.  It
SHOULD be run in advance to be sure the lifters are fully pumped up.

See page 6-36 - item 27 and following of the LM chassis manual."

 From the manual:

NOTE: Turn adjusting nut out until there is end play in the push rod,
then turn adjusting nut in until there is no end play at push rod (may
be felt by twisting push rod) (fig. 77). Turn adjusting nut one
additional turn in (to center plunger in hydraulic valve lifter).

1) I'm not a mechanic, nor do I play one on television.
2) "One additional turn in" would mean 360 degrees clockwise to me,
but then, what do I know (see #1).
3) (to center plunger in hydraulic valve lifter) could mean either:
a) turn the wrench until it lines up with the plunger [what we refer to
as the push rods ?] (which could be less than the 360 mentioned in [a]
)  or;
b) this process [the 360 turn] assures that the plunger [push rod?] is
centered.

And;

I'm sure I'm missing something, but here goes. The engine should be
run BEFORE adjusting the lifters?
