Glad she got good medical treatment, and she'd doing better.
Everyone has a different perspective on the same convention, regardless
of the convention. It's like the story of the twelve blind men examining
an elephant. All came to a different conclusion, though all were at
least partially right.
All conventions have their plusses and minuses, just in different areas,
and with different people. I think that if everyone who is planning a
convention would take note of what goes wrong, as well as what was done
right, then future conventions will (Lord willing and the crops don't
fail) just get better and better. It's the unforseen and/or unavoidable
happenings that can make for a bumpy ride. And such things can sometimes
be out of the convention committee's ability to overcome or avoid. Just
ask Murphy. (G)
My one fault with this convention was the lack of maps, availibility of
same, and the oftentimes erroneous information of some of the
directions. As far as the poor availability of affordable eating places,
perhaps future convention goers should post the directions and specifics
of great finds on the bulletin board, so such places aren't "the best
kept secret of the convention."

P.S. To the convention hosts, I've seen better and I've seen worse
conventions. It happens, sometimes with a capitol "SH," so be content
that as far as I am concerned, you did a good job overall, despite some
sometimes annoying glitches, gaffes, and oversights (which all
conventions have.)

> My wife wasn't feeling well on Tuesday and the left side of her face became very painful and started to swell severely. About 2 AM we decide to find some medical attention. Not being familiar with downtown Buffalo we called the desk and they had prepared printed instructions to Buffalo General Hospital. We got in the 65 4 door that my wife had driven to the convention and found the hospital with no problems (accurate directions) other than some red lights that I safely drove through.
> She received prompt and absolutely thorough care and was diagnosed with shingles (herpes zoster). It involved her eye which could have lead to blindness if not treated promptly. We were able to get an appointment that day with an ophthalmologist at the hospital. Ruth received medication which rapidly reversed her swelling and pain. She did not want to return home because she felt she could receive better care in Buffalo than our small rural community.
> We returned to the hotel at 5AM and I left for the concours site at 6AM. I had no sleep that night but somehow managed to get my rampside ready for judging. Fortunately my son lives in the Buffalo area and was able to tend to his Mother while I was at the concours.
> Ruth recovered rapidly and bravely overcame her feelings about her appearance and attended the banquet with me where I received a gold award for the rampside and a model concours award for my rampside valve cover racer.
> I would like to thank the hotel staff for being prepared for emergencies, the excellent medical staff at Buffalo General, and the support of the members of the Niagara Frontier Corvair Club. It was a great convention and the hardworking volunteers of the 4 Clubs are to be commended. Dennis Dorogi
