Had my digital Tach/Dwell meter with me for the trip to Old Town last 
night. At indicated 70 mph with 195x70x14s (24.8") on front and 215x65x15s 
(26") on back was reading 3380 rpm (call it 3400). 110/PG/3.55. Also read 
3000 at 60 and 2800 at 55 so slip is accounting for an extra 200 rpm/6 % 
(assuming the speedo is accurate but staying right with moderate traffic on 
Interstate so probably close). Still would prefer 2500 or less at 70 but 
need to change the heads out first and see if that cures the idle  issue.

Hot idle in Drive staying at 600-650 so seems OK for moment with warped carbs.
