1 Noisy lifter
No need to drop rear of engine......determine which side of
engine.....hopefully drivers side [ no muffler / heatshield].
Have a new Valve cover gasket ready! If you understand how to adjust GM
hydraulic lifters..go for it.....otherwise you need a manual / book such as Bob
Helts' Classic Corvair, etc.
If in a rush.....try wiggling all rockers......[engine off] if one feels
super loose compared to the rest....tighten 1/8 turn....turn engine over by hand
1 revolution...repeat..... ONE rocker ONLY at a time... do this ONE time
only!
2 Heater blower
Located on pass. side behind rear wheel....pull wire off and jump with direct
12 vdc POSITIVE.....now you'll know if the motor is bad....5 little 1/4 head
bolts holt it in...
3 Fan noise
Remove fanbelt...start engine.....is noise gone?.....spin fan , alt. , idler
and see if one / all makes the noise....and if any revolve more than 2-3
rotations after spinning [ dry bearing]
