Padgett,
Have you considered a problem with the torque converter? The fact that the problem goes away when you shift into neutral and remove the load from the converter makes me think that may be where the problem lies.

Just in case somebody new might have an idea, am still having an idle issue
with my '66 110/PG 75,000 miles. Everything seems fine until I stop at a
light or sommat in D for about 15-20 seconds when warmed up then one or two
(think 3 & 4) cyl stop firing and 600 rpm idle becomes a 350 rpm idle. Does
not stop. Tap on accellerator or shift to N and it comes right back.
