the defect rate that scott is referring to is printed in clarks book and he is saying his rate is 5% that doesnt mean that everyone has the same defect rate as clarks does.From previous experience of working for corvair underground i can say their defect rate is lower than that and usually if you have a bad pump it will be bad right out of the box or with in the first 100 miles.
