<VV> brake drum question

I was fitting my brake drums last night after completing the brake job, and 
I noticed that while the rear adjusters did not have to be turned very far 
to get contact with the drums, the front adjusters had to be expanded about 
1/4".  Front and rear drums have been turned approximately .050" over (I 
don't have the most accurate way of measuring this).  Is this normal?
