Thanks everybody, I guess my EE background was getting in the way of the
simple approach - just measure the resistance - Doh!

 You dont need the power supply Bob, just heat and measure resistance. If
you 
check with Craig Nicol I believe he has done some testing and has specs as
to 
approx what the resistance should be for a giving temp. 
 I would say that if you get a resistance reading when cold and a different
one 
when heated, its working. As for how accurate, I dont think they were even
when 
new.
