<VV> Fuel Pump Woes

Thanks for all the listers especially Chuck & the Turbo Guru Smitty for the help on my Corsa's impersonation of a WWII Fletcher Class Destroyer smoke screen yesterday on the freeway. Looks like the fuel pump went south (2months new) & watered the crankcase w/ 91 octane dino juice. 
  Air cleaner is full of oil sucked into the breather from the over filled crankcase. I've read in the Clarks catalog about fuel pump diaphrams having a failure rate of 10% but no other info or alternative other than going electric. I'd like to keep the guts in original configuration but if I can't buy a reliable fuel pump......well???? Thanks for all the help & newbie, "cutting my teeth" ?'s..
