This thread reminds me of an experience I had.......

Person SWORE....GM  says  NON-DETERGENT OILS.......it's in my owners 
manual!!!

We looked!!!  sure enough it said, " Do not  use NON-DETERGENT OILS or other 
low grade oils in your 1972 Chevy."
