I asked them to please explain how, why and where I'd install the  thermostat

LOL!! You don't honestly expect an answer do you Ned?  It does make you wonder about their parts/car parser though.  If it can come up with a radiator thermostat for an air cooled car, what kind of other mistakes is it making?  I hope they have a good return policy.
