Thanks for the information Marty. That's exactly the type of information that I was looking for. Also, thanks to everyone that replied. There is a lot of good information out there. I'm especially intrigued by the ideal of the Yamaha throttle bodies.
Some have asked that I post more information about the engine, so here goes. The engine conists of a 1966 case with 1964 pistions/cylinders and 1964 turbo heads. The current carb is a Rochester four barrel on a two runner intake manifold. Sorry, I don't know the jets as I did not set up the carb. Ignition is stock, but I have not put a timing light on it to see what the timing is set at. I need to get the car ready for winter, which means fresh oil and plugs as well as checking the timing. The car runs pretty well with very little tip-in (but it is there), okay mileage on the highway (about 20) and lousy mileage in town (about 14).
My goal is better driveability, improved ecconomy, while maintaining a reasonable level of performance. I think that I can accomplish this with an FI system. I could probably do this with any combination of carbs, but I am intrigued by the idea of installing an FI system.

Joe White

JW-
I used two Holley throttle bodies on my Megasquirt installation.
These TBs are aftermarket replacements for the GM 4 cylinder engines
that have a single TB. They use the typical GM TBI low pressure fuel
delivery of approximately 13 PSI. The TBs were adapted to some dune
buggy type manifolds that I got from a friend.
The fuel pump I used was an external pump from a TBI Subaru. It's a
small pump that fit behind the sheet metal close to the fuel tank.
I added a 3/8" fuel delivery line, and used the existing 5/16 line
for a return line. I modified the fuel gauge sending unit for the
additional line, added a tank sock to fit the 3/8 line, and put a TBI
type fuel filter in the engine compartment.
The base VE table for Megasquirt will start and run the car. You can
create a new VE table if you have some HP and torque numbers by using
the built in VE table generator found in Megatune. If you have a
wideband O2 sensor, the VexMe software at
http://www.jaypsc.co.uk/vexme/ should help (haven't tried it yet).
Read the tuning portion of the MegaManual several times, and get a
friend to drive the car while you work the laptop. Megasquirt has
built in data logging, and using MSTweek300 and a wideband sensor you
should be tuned in no time. Be sure to save your configurations and
it helps to keep a log of changes you've made.
The whole Megasquirt project has been a lot of fun, and the support
forum over at http://www.msefi.com is great.

be pretty straight forward in the installation and setup. However,
before I commit to this project, I'd like to find out how others in
VV/Fastvairs might have set up their engines. I have questions such

has an extensive range of components, either new or from salvage
cars, that might be used. So, if you have some experience you would
like to share, please let me know.
