<VV> Convertible Rear Window

Just a quick question to you long time experienced Vair drop-top owners....Will it damage the rear window to fold down the top without unzipping the rear window and folding it down into the well, first?

I have always done it this way, but if it isn't really necessary, I'd just as soon not.  But seeing how much the replacements cost, I don't want to chance messing up the one I have.
