Really dumb question time:
Please look at http://padgett.performanceresearch.us/files/carb.jpg
It has really been a long time but isn't there supposed to be a passage at 
the bottom of this vent ? There seems to be black crud at the bottom of 
this passage on both carbs but do not want to start poking blindly. If 
there is, how big is it supposed to be ? If I had a known good carb I could 
just look but don't.
