Hey guys,
The "new" 69 appearently needs new nylon rollers on the driver's door window
regulator... the front part of the door window is "off track"... Clark's is
out of stock on them, so does anyone have any idea who else to look to for
these?
I'll be tearing into it tomorrow, just to make sure it's something I can't
fix... I replaced the back up lamp socket and the stoplamp socket since both of
them were FUBAR, and found a good used lens for the license plate light (it
didn't have one)... went looking through a bunch of my stuff and found a spare
tire lock for an EM... it may or may not find it's way on the 64 sedan... could
probably find it a better home on eBay...
I noticed the 64 needs a thermostat replaced, so I'll be looking for some of
those.... I also spent yesterday under the 64 fixing the exhaust hanger on the
left side (it has duals) and found where the PO had gotten the hangers from
Clarks (I still had the receipts from spring 2003 when he did it)... I had
gotten the replacement rubber pieces from Unka Lonald and noticed the threads in
the middle of the rubber, to help reinforce the hanger... the rubber on the
hanger wasn't.... I had even considered doubling the rubber pieces, but after
seeing the high quality of the rubber blocks, I only used one...
The 69 has an issue with pinging, so I'll throw a timing light and set the
idle down where it should be tomorrow, hopefully, and make sure it has the right
spark plugs in it... I also need to rebuild my generator and replace the
alternator on the 64 soon, too... it hasn't been the thorn in my side that it had
been before I "serviced" the regulator... I DID notice the new VR from
Underground does NOT have adjusting screws inside...
One more thing... Friday I drove some stuff out to my Mom's place (about 50
miles one way) for her Church's yard sale... I was told to meet her at the
church, and Mom let me browse through the stuff that was there... I left there
with some cast iron skillets and pots (wagner) and an old "hand held CB", all for
$5... I tried the CB out on the way home, plugged it into the lighter and
turned it on... it picked up the engine noise REAL good... and then I heard
"Looky there! You don't see those every day!" and another came back and said "That
old green Corvair? That must be redone, because they weren't that fast when
they were new!"... I had just hit 70 mph, and I clicked on and said "It's bone
stock, no modifications at all"... and then another fellow said "I heard they
were all pieces of sh!t"... and I came back on and said "Yeah, I've heard that
about truckers, too, but I'm not stupid enough to believe it"... the guy in
the rig next to me tooted his horn and waved....
I thought it was kinda funny.
Y'all have a good night.
Lonzo
