<VV> No Corvair, geology/history

Hey Lonzo,

You are right about the devastation. We live in Mayfield, about 40 miles
from the fault line. My grandmother always said that some day the area
between the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers would turn to soup and
disappear. I am afraid my 64 convertible (for Corvair content!) would not
float! By the way, we have had several small tremors this year.

has not been active lately but in the
1811-1812 period (last major event), the Mississippi river ran backwards.
Legend has it that Tecumseh predicted the earthquake, which was a sign for
all the different tribes in North America to unite with the British and
chase
the "white man" off their property... it didn't work...
It also created Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee, and changed part of the path of
the Ohio River (which also ran backwards) and caused a section of KY to be
lost
to Illinois since the river dipped south near Fulton, KY...
If the New Madrid fault were to become that active I think St Louis would be

devestated... as would Paducah, KY.
Later,
Lonzo
