Never had trouble with removing Corvair lifters..........Yet!
But have had plenty of trouble removing small block chevy lifters over the
years. Sometimes these lifters are slightly "peaned" over. I actually have a
tool (from Snap-on) which will grip the rim inside the lifter and use to
work the lifter out. In extreme situations have had to remove the guts of
the lifter to get a more solid grip.
Many years ago the cams wore poorly on the SBC and the lifters were junk
too.
