do you think i shortened the life of my rings by leaving the shrouds on 
without doors?  i find it hard to believe. i do run gas heaters so heat for cabin 
is not an issue.  but both failures were set up the same lower shrouds in place 
without doors.  but i have done this for years on several cars without any 
other failures....hmmmm
next option will be a temp gauge somewhere , maybe in heads.
