there was a factory repair for that drift which was only a simple tightening 
of the coil assemby in its cast housing...but the screws are not easy to get 
at, and you should know how to move circuit boards without damage etc before 
attemping this repair. also all screws (the 1/4 in ones)holding boards in place 
can loosen up with age and cause noises and drifting.
