I think you should buy a milkshake to go with the straws!   gg

I usually slow the idle way down [ 400rpm]  when dealing with weird 
lifters....and adjust HOT-Running with a Valve cover with holes cut for 
adjusting.....the engines always idle fine....

Get another carb from someone and change it out....one or the other is 
bad....
