I can't argue with Hank's recommendations on the beer,
he obviously shares the same tastes as I. A recent
addition to downtown Buffalo is the Pearl Street Pub,
a great micro-brewery covering FOUR FLOORS of an old
restored building that's about a 2-minute walk from
the host hotel. I had a wonderful dark brew there on
Saturday, very much like Guinness but a bit sweeter.
Pearl Street Pub will quickly become a favorite of
CORSA members.
Speaking of the host hotel, the Adam's Mark, we met
there this past weekend with some of the CORSA Board.
Here's my quick review-
The good: folks will be surprised, maybe even amazed,
at this hotel's convention facilities. The grand
ballroom, hospitality and vendor areas are clean,
luxurious and absolutely HUGE; no one will want for
space here. Very nice restaurant/cafe, plenty of
enclosed parking that's just steps from the lobby, and
walking distance from the beautiful marina area. The
hotel is right at the end of the Church Street
off-ramp from I-190, so you can't possibly miss it.
The bad: this is a true convention hotel, not one
you'd go to spend one of those "romantic getaway"
weekends, because the standard rooms are small.
You'll find just enough space for 2 doubles or 1 king,
a nightstand, dresser, desk and side chair, and a spot
to set up an ironing board. Bathroom and closet are
quite small, and no mini-bar, so plan accordingly.
Large families may want to consider a suite,or
adjoining rooms. As for myself, I don't go to a
convention to spend it in my room, and the rest of the
hotel more than makes up for the room's shortcomings.
If anyone has any questions about the hotel, or the
convention in general, please contact me. If I don't
have the answer, I'll find someone that does.
