Tony, and others,
My condolences on the loss of your friend... I have a great-uncle who was a
Marine DI back in the 40s... short little guy, about 5' 7" and mean as a bag of
rattlers... He's a riot, and I love him dearly.
November is always a crappy month for me because I lost both my Grandad
Anderson on Nov. 14, 1992 and my Dad on Nov. 19, 1999. Dad served with the SeaBees
in the South Pacific in '43 & '44... he never talked about those days... but
I DO have some interesting photos from somewhere way back then.
I've got one of those POW/MIA black magnetic ribbons on my 69, and the
contrast is really nice, what with it being a white car... the guys and gals who
didn't make it home still have a profound effect on me, and I just count my
blessings for my family that made it back somewhat safe and sort of sound.... I'll
be meeting Cheryl for lunch today, working a few bugs out of the 69... she
doesn't want to idle when cold... (I was referring to the car, but I guess that
statement covers Cheryl, too)...
;-)
Anyway, THANK YOU to all those who have served your country by wearing the
uniform in both peace time and war... and by "ALL" that includes our friends
beyond our borders... and a special thought for those who didn't make it back.
God bless you.
