>Is there a difference in the regulators?
My applications guide shows three generators for 1962-63 (Whut the heck is
an "R-10" ? FC ?) - 30, 35, and 40 amp. Two (30 & 35) for 1964. Each uses a
different regulator (1119001, 30; 1119604, 35; 1119654,40 - 62-63
and 1119305,30; 1119536,35 - 64 ). This type of regulator passes the full
current through one of the circuits (the cut-out relay) and I suspect that
this is what is burning out but would have to see one. One mitigation might
be to run the heaviest load through the "L" terminal instead of the "Batt"
but is recommended only for winter operation since there is no current
regulation.
Would have to study up a bit for anything more, I really prefer alternators.
