<VV> RE: Steering coupler clearance.

When I put the later stuff in my 65, I had to relieve the area around the
coupler. I did this with a large hammer and a large C-clamp, I might have
also used a torch the heat the area first. Not with a gas tank still
installed though!

That's just one of the minor changes made in LMs. The cars with the stub
shaft and coupler (67 and later?) had a relief area for the coupler to clear
the body/frame. I put a column in from a later car (68?) with the
collapsible section and the stub shaft steering box so I could use the fast
steering box with the stub shaft. The later column with the collapsible
section is probably safer than the one piece 65 design.

So I am looking for advice (again). I have three options that I can see.

1: Space the box away from the frame enough to (try) and get enough
clearance.

2: Try to grind the frame away from the coupler (and spring thing that holds
the rubber retainer ring on).

3: Go back to the 66 column and get the coupler shaft (the original 66
column is beat up a bit, horn contacts gone, aftermarket wheel. P.O. A.
Hole).

Maybe something will come to me as I sleep. Just didn't think there was a
frame difference. Anything I am missing?

Thanks everyone!
